STRONG FAMILIES TOGETHER

WHAT? Hybrid sessions where guest speakers discuss topics related to domestic violence, economic abuse, effective parenting, healthy relationships, and family law. Strong Families Together is an Arabic program, with translation provided to participants as needed.

WHEN? Strong Families Together runs weekly on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

WHERE? Sessions are typically held virtually on Zoom, with some in-person sessions as public health guidelines allow. Participants are provided with session links after signing up.

WHO? This program is targeted towards Arab women based in Waterloo Region or Guelph. These women are typically married, mothers, and/or newcomers.

WHY? This program was created with the intention of equipping women with the tools they need to strengthen their families and support themselves as well as their loved ones. Unfortunately, topics such as domestic violence and abuse are regarded as taboo in the Middle East, where most participants come from, which can be harmful to women as well as their children. We aim to relay important information in accessible, culturally sensitive, and barrier-free ways, in order to encourage and promote the well-being of our participants.
