MOTHER TO MOTHER

WHAT? Weekly sessions where guest speakers discuss topics important to new or expecting mothers and provide educational advice with the intention of helping women through their motherhood journey. New or expecting mothers are also connected to one another through this program in order to cultivate a space of social and emotional support.

WHEN? Mother to Mother sessions are held weekly on Mondays at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

WHERE? In consideration of the pandemic and the current state of public health, sessions are held virtually on Zoom. Participants are provided with session links after signing up.

WHO? This program is intended for Arab women based in Waterloo Region or Guelph who are expecting or have a child under the age of two years old. Priority is given to refugees and immigrants.

WHY? Immigrant and refugee women often experience feelings of isolation, which are only exacerbated by circumstances such as the pandemic, when away from their families. Especially in transition periods such as becoming a mother, these feelings can be detrimental to the health of a mother as well as her baby. This program intends to connect women to each other and to experts who can answer important questions and provide sound and knowledgeable advice.
